“See that beautiful blonde lady over there with cat-eye glasses?” Matheus asked. “Her name is Charlotte, the guardian of our lives.”

“What do you like to eat?” he continued, making Rafaela laugh.

“Today, I’d like a mocha coffee and a donut with jelly,” Rafaela replied.

“Oh no, pregnant women don’t drink coffee in this family, but Charlotte has excellent substitutes. I’ll ask her to make you a healthy snack. No worries, I’ll have the donuts brought in, okay?”

“Okay,” Rafaela agreed.

“I’ll check if Arthur is still alive. Be right back.”
