Chapter 113. Sirens

Mr. Daniels took a deep breath, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that this moment could change everything. He glanced at Maddie again, seeing the way she avoided his gaze, and he felt a pang of guilt so sharp it almost took his breath away. 

“I…I need to tell the truth,” He said, his voice trembling slightly. “This has been weighing on me for long.” 

The guard raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. Maddie’s head snapped up, her eyes wide with shock. She had not expected Mr. Daniels to say anything, let alone confess.

Mr. Daniels continued, his voice gaining strength as he spoke. “Years ago, I did something unforgivable to Maddie. I hurt her in ways I can never make right. I have tried to atone for it, but nothing I do can erase what happened.”
