Chapter 121. Packing up

As the car sped down the road, Maddie stared out the window, the scenery blurring past her. Her mind raced with thoughts and plans, trying to find any possible way out of the mess she found herself in. 

Jacob’s silence beside her was a testament to the tension that filled the vehicle. He had his focus on the road, trying his best to not even look her way; afraid that if he did, his emotions would win and he might do something that would make matters worse. 

He might say no to her going there and make everything even more complicated than it already was., so yeah, he decided to keep his mouth shut. 

“Um…” Maddie spoke, breaking the heavy silence. “Jacob…do you think there is still any way we can pull this off? The plan of making Nate hate me enough to reject me before my birthday.”
