Elder Roy nodded, his expression remaining stern and impartial. “Very well, Nate. We expect you both back here in two days to finalize this matter.” He locked eyes with Maddie after saying this and flashed her a smile but she could see the evil underneath. 

She hated the guy so much but she could not do anything about it because she was right under his thumb. 

Nate turned on his heel and stormed out of the chamber, Beta Josiah following closely behind. Maddie and Vanessa stayed behind, feeling the weight of the elders’ gazes. Vanessa finally gave the omega a nod, signaling that it was time for them to make their way out of the room. 

As they stepped outside, Maddie could not help but feel the suffocating weight of the situation pressing down on her. She glanced at Vanessa but the girl seemed unbothered. Gosh, she wished that she could be that way, but she could not.
