Chapter 177. A Storm Is Coming

Maddie sat there as the silence filled the room. The only sound was her heavy breathing and the clicking of the clock that was on the wall. She could not believe that she had just said that, that she had just expressed a part of herself to someone she had just met. 

Dr. Shepherd suddenly started writing in his notepad, then he finally lifted his head. “That was very good, Maddie. Thank you.” He flashed her a smile. 

She played with her fingers, trying her best to manage the anxiety that she was feeling. “I guess.” 

The man set his notepad aside and leaned forward slightly, his expression warm and attentive. “So, Maddie, would you like to share more about what has been causing you to feel this way.” 

Maddie bit her lip in hesitation. She felt like she had already said enough, this was just the first session, and she was not about to confess and get herself arrested. “No, I would not. I think I’m done for the day.”
