Maddie felt Vanessa’s suspicion like a tangible weight, pressing down on her as they exited the hospital room. She forced a polite smile, trying to mask the turmoil inside her. 

Once they were outside the building, Vanessa excused herself, her eyes lingering on the omega for a moment longer than necessary. “I have some errands to run,” She said. “You two can find your way back to the villa or wherever, I don’t care. But I’m taking the car.” 

“I’m sorry, she can be like that,” Nate chuckled the words out as he pulled his phone out of his pocket, making a call in a few seconds. “Yeah, I need you to come pick us up,” He said before ending the call and slipping the phone back into his pocket. 

Maddie nodded, forcing another smile. “It’s fine, it’s nothing that I’m new to.” She sighed, running her hand through her hair as she racked her brain as to how she was going to get Vanessa’s password to her email account and the one to her laptop.
