Maddie was tapping her finger lightly on the metal bar of the cell she was now in. Tears freely flowed from her eyes as she imagined how she could be executed.

She would not be able to see her friends, family, Nate, or Jacob again. She did not know if it was going to be painful or not.

But what she did know was that once it was over, it would all be truly over. She won’t be in pain anymore, there won’t be any confusion going on in her head, the guilt will disappear and she will be free.

She would be free from the heaviness that life came with. And maybe then, she would truly be happy.

“Maddie?” A voice pulled her from her thoughts. It was Nate. This was not prison, she knew that. It was just a jail, where she would be kept until she was transferred.

She lifted her head up and met the eyes of the alpha. “Nate,” Her voice was small and breathy. A few more tears fell from her eyes.

“Come on, let’s go home,” He said to her in a comforting and gentle tone. He
