Chapter 46. Made It Home

Did she make it out? Did she manage to escape whatever beast that was chasing her?

Yes, Maddie was far away from the forest but she still kept running. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest and she was out of breath, but she kept running.

Although when she looked back, she was no longer being chased and the beast had stayed in the forest, but she kept running. 

That was one of the funny things about fear, no matter if you were not in danger anymore, the brain could still make you feel as if you still were. When she was blocks away from the forest where even when she looked behind her, she could only see houses, she finally slowed down. 

Her legs were burning and she was breathing so deeply. She started to walk, swallowing but her throat was so dry and her saliva was not enough. Her heart was still racing, both due to fear and the fact that she had really exerted herself physically.
