Chapter 52. Confrontation and Tears

Maddie stood frozen, Jacob’s sudden outburst and harsh words cutting deep. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. The intensity of his gaze, filled with anger and betrayal, left her speechless. 

Tears welled up in her eyes. She thought he had changed, she thought that he was better now. But maybe that was all just an illusion. Crazy enough, she kind of understood his anger. She would have been pissed and hurt too it was done to her too. 

“Jacob, please….” She finally managed to whisper, her voice trembling. “Your parents are downstairs, let’s not fight. It has been a lovely evening, please, let’s not ruin it.”

He shook his head, stepping back. “No, Maddie. I have tried to be understanding, I have tried to change for you, but you’re making it clear where your heart lies. Just go. Go and f*ck Nate Thorn for all I care.”
