Chapter 50. Dinner
“So…” She cleared her throat. “The bathroom, huh?” She chuckled nervously, trying to distract them from the fact that she had been staring like that.
“Yeah, sure,” Jacob replied, leading her away and down the hall. He seemed happier, there was a lightness about him that she couldn’t explain, but she liked it.
She liked it better than his bad boy, all tough act that he liked to portray a lot.
Maddie followed him until they reached the bathroom. “Thanks,” she said before walking in and looking at the door.
It smelled so good and was very clean. She had come to wash her hands but also to try to gain some composure.
She didn’t like that she kept getting hit over and over by questions about who or what kept following her.
She didn’t like that she had this fear eating her up slowly. She needed to know what or who that was.
