Chapter 51. Invitation Gone Wrong

Jacob’s face flushed with embarrassment, but he maintained his composure. “No, it’s not a proposal,” He clarified, chuckling as he opened the box to reveal a delicate silver necklace with a small, intricate pendant in the shape of a wolf. “It’s a gift and also an invitation.” 

Maddie’s laughter faded into a soft smile as she stared at the necklace, her breath catching in her throat. “Jacob…that looks expensive,” She pointed that out first. It looked lovely and she already loved it but what did he mean by gift and invitation? 

“Yeah, it is,” He chuckled the words out as he stood to his feet. “But I don’t care.” He shrugged. 

“Besides the necklace looking beautiful and perfect, what did you mean by gift and invitation?” She asked as a smile danced on her lips. 

“An early birthday gift and also an invitation to the Royal Ball that would be happening in a few days, I would like you to be my date.” He smiled, his eyes holding excitement and nervousnes
