Chapter 49. Paranoia

Paranoia, was it that? Or was her brain just making all of this up because she was scared and paranoid?

Maddie walked faster until she reached a zebra crossing. Her heart was pounding in her chest and she tried her best to remain calm. 

If there was someone or something really out there, her running might trigger it to chase after her.

She maintained her pace until she finally reached Jacob’s neighborhood. Yet still, she felt the presence of whatever was following her.

It was like it was watching, enjoying its little game. 

Maddie didn’t mind walking because it was something she had done a lot, she had been doing it since she was little. 

The only means of transport she used was the school bus, and that was to get her to and from school.

But besides that, she walked everywhere. It was when she started dating guys like Jacob that she rode decent cars.

But that was that she had bigger things to worry about than the beads of sweat
