Chapter 41

Dorian’s POV

Max walked in on Anora and I. It’s not like we were doing anything wrong, it’s not like anything suspicious was going on, we were just talking although it doesn’t seem that way. The slight show of Anora’s shoulder, the way her dress was tilted to the side, exposing parts of her back, the way her hair was pushed to the side of her neck, the look on her face, everything just painted the wrong picture.

Anora looked pale, she looked very fearsome. She stared intensely at Max, her eyes were opened widely like she had seen a ghost. Abruptly, Max burst into laughter, his loud giggle echoed loudly. The tension in the room rose with hid laughter. I wondered how someone like him, someone I had spent the first seven years of my life knowing could harm someone the way he did. I thought of the mark on Anora, the deep cuts that I was sure Max gave. I wondered how someone could laugh so heartily after hurting someone the way he did.
