Chapter 23
Going through the motions of life when you feel like half of your heart somehow got left behind is not as easy as one would think. Katrina tried though. Get Joey up in the morning. Keep smile on face. Be cheerful. Make breakfast. Get Joey to school bus. Get to work and actually do the work. Smile. Get home and pick Joey up at neighbor’s house where he spends his after-school hours. Smile. Make dinner and try to eat some of it. Spend quality time with Joey. Smile and joke. Get Joey in bed. Sit on couch and feel that intense and familiar pain which radiated from her broken heart into every part of her body. Go to bed. Try not to dream of Theo. Repeat. Oh, and try to exercise somewhere in there. Yeah, that didn’t really happen. She felt sluggish and exhausted most of the time. It was as if her entire body was on autopilot and managed only the bare minimum.
