Thanksgiving arrived and in Virginia, it was a beautiful and mild week. Shane ignored the soaring temperatures and decided to build a fire in the living room. The flames licked across perfectly split firewood that crackled peacefully in the stone fireplace. He was now busy teaching Joey how to play poker while Kat and Edith were preparing everything in the kitchen. It sure was funny how life played out, he thought while trying not to look at Joey’s cards that he was unknowingly showing while trying to sort through his hand.
He had been prepared to hate Katrina out of loyalty to Theo. Just like he had been forced to try and like Vienna for the same reason. And then Theo had called him and informed him of everything Marcus had said, and even though it made perfect sense to him, it still blew his mind that Vienna would be that cruel.
