Chapter 3

'I don't care about that. He is our mate.' My wolf was annoyed at me. 'We should be with him, not Winona.'

"My baby." Alpha Meddox's voice and soft touched on my cheek broke my thoughts. I fixed my gaze on him. "He's Alpha Zavier Grimwood from the River Triangle Pack. You must be wondering why we are friends. Our packs are very far apart, and we are from different pack clans."

I glanced at Alpha Zavier from my peripheral vision. His amber eyes studied me and Alpha Meddox without saying anything.

He's my mate, me and my wolf couldn’t be wrong. The living room was dominated by this lovely perfume that penetrated my sense of smell. This living area is just for significant guests; warriors and omegas were prohibited from sitting or standing there.

"She's Elettra." Alpha Meddox introduced me to his friend. "She is the woman I love. I will make her mine." Alpha Meddox kissed my cheek.

I glanced at Alpha Zavier again, and he didn't react. His expression didn't change, and his eyes didn't move from observing me and Alpha Meddox.

"Then?" Finally, he responded to Alpha Meddox's words.

Alpha Meddox snorted. "You should be glad I'm with the woman I love."

Alpha Zavier nodded.

Alpha Meddox didn't let go of his arms as he hugged me from the side. He discussed numerous topics with Alpha Zavier. I didn't hear what they were saying.

I dropped my gaze to the table, squeezed my hand, and bit the inside of my cheek. My wolf and I were confused why Alpha Zavier didn't say anything about me being his mate.

Alpha Zavier seemed unperturbed and allowed Alpha Meddox to claim me as his own. Alpha Zavier also didn't glance at me when Alpha Meddox kissed my cheek or smoothed my hair.

Me and my wolf doubted our sense of smell, but Anna saw Alpha Zavier's aura just like me.

'Maybe it's just a coincidence that Alpha Zavier has the same aura as me,' I said. 'Then who is the owner of this fragrant scent? Who is our mate?'

'I believe Alpha Zavier is our mate.' My wolf was confident, yet I find it hard to believe.

Alpha Zavier was in a relationship with Winona. My cousin had never brought an Alpha Zavier to the house. I know Winona was dating Alpha Zavier because when Alpha Zavier expressed his feelings, and they officially started dating, Winona and Eliana were so happy.

I often overhear Winona telling Eliana about Alpha Zavier, and two weeks ago, Winona asked me to accompany her shopping at the mall; she bought a dress to attend Alpha Zavier's mother's birthday and bought gifts.

I lifted my head and was surprised when my eyes met Alpha Zavier's amber eyes. He only glanced at me, and my heart reacted by beating faster.

I didn’t want to think about the fact that Alpha Zavier is Winona's boyfriend.

"I want to see you smile." Alpha Meddox pinched my cheek, and I snapped out of my reverie. I lowered my head to meet the dark blond-haired man's eyes. My thighs couldn't feel anything because the guy rested his head on my thighs for too long.

"You always used to smile, and you were chatty." Alpha Meddox recounted when we first met. "I'll always talk about it until you remember. You've made my heart beat again."

I had no idea how, when, or where Alpha Meddox and I first met. However, I was curious what I did to make him fall in love with me. Weirdly, I'm losing my memories.

"Why have you changed in three years?" Alpha Meddox stroked my cheek gently, and sadness in his eyes. "At that time, you shone brightly like an angel, and I believe the Moon Goddess sent you to cheer me up."

Alpha Meddox stroked the wrinkles on my forehead. "I understand you want to remember. I should have caught the moment, but I was so preoccupied with you that I couldn't take my gaze away, and you consumed my thoughts." He pressed his lips to mine.

"Gosh." He smacked his lips. "I promised myself to kiss your lips after the Moon Goddess grants our prayers and we become mates." He smiled broadly.

I've met my mate. If the Moon Goddess listens to Alpha Meddox's prayers, I have two mates. I was certain my head would be spinning, living with two men.

I swear I didn't remember where I met Alpha Meddox three years ago. My wolf had also forgotten about that.

"Would you like to feed them, Miss?" An omega feeds five swans in the lake far behind Alpha Meddox's house.

"No." I shook my head. I came to this lake when the Alpha Meddox's wolf was practicing war with the Beta's wolf. "The number increased by two."

The Omega smiled at me. "Alpha increases the number of geese because you like goose meat. It's rare to find a goose seller."

I rounded my mouth.

'I think Alpha Meddox really loves you,' said my wolf. 'I'm disappointed in Alpha Zavier. He disowned us!'

I grimaced, and my heart throbbed in pain.

Alpha Meddox and I were getting married on the sacred mountain tomorrow. We will pray there, seeking the Moon Goddess's blessing to unite us as mates. I didn't know how I felt now.

I wanted to run away and go to Alpha Zavier's house. I wanted to know if he really is my mate, and if he didn’t accept me, he should reject me.

My feet stepped into the forest across the lake. My gaze was drawn to the emerald lake water and the five quiet swans on separate sides of the lake. Hundreds of fish may be seen swimming in the ten-meter-deep lake.

'Escape, Elettra,' said my wolf. 'We switched bodies in that forest. We have confirmed there are no warriors there.'

I stared at the shady trees in the forest. Twenty meters away from me was an iron fence to mark the boundary between Alpha Meddox's house and the other houses.

I've never stood near a metal fence, but I know that five meters from the iron fence is a forest. I didn’t know where Alpha Meddox's house is because he never asked me to went out of his house.

He locked me in his luxurious house.

"Escape. Escape." I muttered. I was intrigued by the idea of escaping and meeting Alpha Zavier. However, I couldn't shake off the fear of being caught by Alpha Meddox if Alpha Zavier were to reject me.

'We should ask Alpha Zavier for an explanation. If he doesn't reject us, neither we nor he will be able to meet a new mate.' My wolf voice echoes in my head.

I looked at the birds on the tree branches. 'You're right, Anna. Even though it hurts, we must know how he feels about us.'

I was startled by the sound of stuff falling and someone complaining. I turned right and left to identify the source of the noise.

My heartbeat increased drastically until it reached my ears, and it was as if time had stopped while I waited for someone to approach me.

I was shocked and rebelled when someone hugged me from behind and covered my nose and mouth with a handkerchief. The calming scent entered my lungs, and slowly, my vision blurred until darkness enveloped me.
