“What?” Lucas gasped in shock. His unwillingness to judge Mateo’s actions and lies to his daughter did not change the fact that he was surprised altogether.

“How did she find out?”

“Her ex-best friend, Isabella. She told her,” Mateo answered.

“How did she find out though?” It just was not adding up. “From what I’ve heard, Ava’s mum died when she was still a toddler.”

“I do not know,” Mateo sounded defeated and low. “I do not care to know; I only want Ava to be safe. Please find her,” Mateo pleaded desperately over the phone. “I would not survive it if anything happens to my daughter because of me.”

“Are you sure she is headed to the memorial park?”

“Yes, I told her so she must be headed there now.”

“I’ll find her, I will send you a text when I do.”
