Chapter 255
Darcy was not sure Juan would understand what kind of person Gale was and see the depth of their relationship. She had to be honest with herself, too: she did not want to live in a fantasy world. So, she had to have a clear picture of him.
“I see. You know, I think a little talk, man-to-man, will help Louis to see reason,” Juan suggested.
But Darcy shook her head. “I couldn’t persuade him, Juan. I tried so many times, but they were all useless. Louis has a stubborn will, just like me. And I doubt that a stranger like Gale, who has met him for the first time, could say anything to make any difference."
“The word “stranger” had been uttered reluctantly as Darcy knew she shouldn’t judge Gale but Juan did not seem to notice.
"We shall see!” she said with a slight smile. “You’re Mr. Harris is no doubt a man of honor with many years of experience behind him.”
Darcy felt the color deepening in her cheeks. “He’s not a great deal older than Louis himself,”
