Chapter 10. Into Me Already

"You just shamed Detective Sam," Mr. Steve furrowed his brows. "How could you?"

Before Rick could open his mouth to answer, Mr. Steve's facial expression suddenly changed to a happy one. He grinned and took a few steps closer to Rick, squeezing him into his arms.

"You did well," he whispered to him.

The rest of Rick's colleagues stared with puzzled looks and mixed feelings. "Wasn't the boss angry a while ago?" they asked each other.

Dave wasn't around during the interview, but he was certain Mr. Steve wasn't the type to hug any of his employees. He tilted his head quizzically, a look of puzzlement crossing his face. He stopped and peered intently at Nancy, then thought to himself for a moment before opening his mouth to ask a question.

"What's going on?" he asked.

"It seems the boss loves what he did."
