Chapter 9. Off-Script

The cameras were set for Rick Brown’s first interview show with the Detective. The producer cleared his throat as he focused his gaze on Rick. Raising his hand with his fingers spread, he said, “We will be live in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.” As soon as he counted one, they went live on air.

“Good morning, New Orleans,” Rick flashed a dazzling smile that lit up his entire face with warmth. “I am Rick Brown, and you are watching the Brown Show.”

He began by introducing himself and then introduced Detective Sam to the viewers.

Before he had signed an exclusive contract to work solely with Cast News, Mr. Steve had asked him what he could offer. He had said he could provide Cast News with a show he would love to call the Brown Show. He had gone further to explain in detail that the Brown Show could feature prominent people and interview them. Rick also added that he could do the same with the dirty cops and politicians, getting the truth out of them for the viewers.

Unable to
