Chapter 51. Plea for Help

** THE FOLLOWING MORNING **

Dave walked into Cast News looking devastated. He has been trying to get hold of Mia on the phone but each time he dialed her number, it goes straight to voice mail.

He tried her number once more, standing beside his desk. “Fuck!” he slammed his phone against his desk. The call was entered into voice mail again. Frustration has overwhelmed him.

“What’s the matter?” Nancy asked from behind. She noticed his mood.

“Things are going shit,” he said without looking back.

“Anything I could help with?”

“No,” he said, turning to face her. “You just need to pretend supernatural entities don’t exist. It will do you good.” He doesn’t want to get her involved. With the First Family in town, she’s safer not to know what’s happening.
