“I’m sorry to bother you, Maureen. There is absolutely nothing that I can do. He has decided something definitively. But are you able to explain to me why you were so cruel to your daughter? I had the impression that you wanted to be in close proximity to her.” Stacy’s brows converged as she asked the question.
As Maureen reflected on what had taken place, she let out a breath. “I am truly sorry, sister. I simply let myself get carried away. The young lady will not even give me the benefit of the doubt, no matter how well I treat her. My guess is that the woman has done something to damage her mental state.”
“Despite this, you shouldn’t put undue pressure on her. She is in pain. I can see why Stanley got so worked up over it. Perhaps it would be best for you to just leave,” Stacy offered some advice before leaving the room.
