Chapter 17. Selfish
All too soon and much to her displeasure, he stopped. "You killed him." Cinnia expected to see horror or reproach at what she had done.
She imagined he would be disgusted at her bloody hands, face, and hair, but he gazed upon her like she was the most perfect being to ever exist.
Cinnia nodded, staring past Denzel's face emptily. She was no longer afraid. There was a gaping hole within her, yawning and vast, threatening to engulf the rest of her. She thought she was losing her mind. After all, if someone kills another human for the first time, they are supposed to feel some kind of guilt, fear, or repulsion at their action but Cinnia had no such emotions.
However, Denzel's warm touch on Cinnia's cheek jolted her back to reality and protected her from the insanity creeping up on her.
