Chapter 100. Guilt

Author's POV

Rosa’s face twisted with a cruel smile, her eyes locked on Jake’s. “Goodbye, Jake,” she whispered. And with that, she pressed the gun harder against Kai’s neck, making him scream in pain, ready to shoot.

Just then a pair of hands grabbed her from the back and yanked her hands away. It was Phill. He had managed to creep from behind before he lunged forward, holding Rosa in his clasp.

A shot rang out.

Phill’s body jerked forward as he held onto Rosa. His shirt started staining with a pool of crimson red.

“No!” Lea gasped and Jake and she ran forward. He fell to the ground, still holding onto Rosa.

Rosa’s grip on Kai loosed.

Jake rushed forward, catching Kai as he fell. Jake held Kai tightly, tears streaming down his face. “It’s over, buddy. Daddy’s here. It’s over.”
