Chapter 13
James
The grand church door opens to reveal the most beautiful bride I have ever seen. Her long silky blonde hair is neatly held in place with silver pins atop her head. Her white lace dress holds her body down to her waist and flows down her legs, sweeping the walkway as she walks down the aisle, her hands tucked in between that of another man, who appears to be her father. She holds a bouquet of red roses. Her face is hidden behind the transparent veil. She is walking toward me, and it finally dawned on me. She is my bride, and this is my wedding. I stand, awaiting her arrival nervously. She finally gets to me, and I unveil her. The bride I see has no facial features, just blank skin. I suddenly become scared and turn to leave her at the altar. I hear her scream my name with an invisible mouth, run out of the church, and see a lot of brides, dressed like mine, walking toward me. They’re all screaming my name, and the sound feels like hot coals against my skin. It gets louder
