Chapter 64. After You!

WILLIAMS HOTEL

Ruby dashed into Lacey’s room. “Lacey!” she yelled out.

There was no sign of Lacey. Something looked off. Next to her bed was her bag, already packed. Her number wasn’t going through. Ruby had been dialing her number on her way to the hotel, but it kept going straight to voicemail.

“Something is not right,” Ruby muttered. Her face flushed with anxiousness.

She rushed out of Lacey’s room, running toward the room of Jack and Clara. The door was ajar. Her mind skipped like a speeding car at the sight of the door.

Ruby swallowed a lump in her throat as she pushed the door open. The game was still on—but paused. She walked in and glanced around the room desperately.

“Jack! Clara!” she called out.

There was no response. Her sight was drawn to the twin cubs’ backpack. It was lying on the floor, unzipped. She moved closer and picked the backpack up, revealing Jack’s clothes.

“What the hell is going on?” she lowered the backpack
