Chapter 68. Deep Walk
Lacey looked like shit. She had not been herself lately. On her way from the bar off campus, she caught sight of a dark orb lying by the bus stop stand. She had been standing there for a while, waiting for a taxi or a bus to show up. She had her fill at the bar and staggered to pick the orb up.
Though she was drunk, she was able to tell the orb was a supernatural object.
“You’re coming home with me, sweetie,” she muttered to herself, still staggering.
The ride she had been waiting for finally arrived. A taxi pulled up in front of her. She didn’t wait for a second but staggered toward the cab and boarded it. It was a quiet night, and she could hear the howling of the wind.
Taking her seat, she said in an unstable voice, “Williams Hotel.”
The tires squealed as she relaxed at the back of the taxi. If not for the barwoman who kicked her out, she would still be there, drinking and getting more drunk. Lacey was good at dodging calls she didn’t want to recei
