Chapter 83. Dirty Cops
Ruby had refused, demanding that the issue be settled right at the counter. She sensed foul play. After much persuasion from Lacey, she reluctantly accepted. They both walked into the captain’s office.
Not everyone from the department played dirty. The captain just wanted to get them away from the eyes of the good cops. Any cop from his station who played a good cop was restricted to station and desk duties.
He shut the door behind him and moved across his desk.
“I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience,” he slowly sat on his chair and politely asked them what he could do for them.
Lacey let Ruby do the talking. It was her field, and she knew how to challenge the cops if they crossed their boundaries.
Ruby’s gaze was drawn to the name tag on the captain’s desk. The tag read Captain Jude. She raised her head, fixing her gaze on the captain; she opened her mouth to speak. “Captain Jude, your men arrested my client, and I need to see him right away.”
