Chapter 87. Mourning
Lacey had arrived in New York with Ruby and Detective Jones. The corpses of the deceased werewolves were presented to the Council of Clandestine Wolves and the League of the Secret Wolf Society to mourn their loss. This stirred up a fierce argument between the two ruling bodies. The League remembered vividly that they opposed the visit to Chicago, whereas the Council prompted it. Now, it had led to the death of two of their wolf members, with only a member of the clandestine wolf being lost.
“This isn’t helping the matter!” Lacey yelled out, but no one could hear her. They were busy pointing accusing fingers at one another, yelling in loud voices. Lacey cleared her throat with a fit of coughing. She jumped up and stood on the table at the center of their meeting hall, letting out a long pitch-howl.
