The moment Hans and Rio disappeared beyond the treeline, I exhaled, forcing the knot of tension in my chest to loosen. But it didn’t. Because it never did when Hans rode into trouble without me.  

“Stubborn Alpha.. He never listens,” I grumbled internally, pressing a hand against my belly as if that could soothe the frustration curling inside me.

‘That’s because he thinks he is protecting us,’ Hannah’s voice slithered through my mind, calm yet tinged with disapproval. ‘It’s in his nature.’
