Chapter 41. Security
Liam
My apartment door is practically blown off its hinges from how hard Ainsley shoulders it open, the entire thing bouncing off of the wall and shaking slightly from the force as it swings back around.
Hearing it, I drop everything to head out of the kitchen, spotting my mate and Iris. Ainsley’s face is flushed, her expression frazzled while she turns and quickly shuts the door and throws the locks into place. Her reeks of fear, our bond taunt with it.
“What happened?” I ask, glancing at Iris first.
She shrugs at me, equally as confused as I am.
“We—” Ainsley gasps, pulling in a quick breath. Goddess, did she run up the stairs? “We were being followed.”
“Wait, what?” Iris turns to her. “When?”
“When we were coming down the street. I saw someone duck behind one of the buildings.”
What?
Iris looks completely stunned to hear the news, just as much as I do.
How odd.
