My pen taps in a stuttered rhythm while I lean back in my chair, my text laid out in front of me while my student, Iris, hunches over her own.

While I wasn’t exactly expecting to tutor her during my office hours, the interaction wasn’t all that unpleasant. I like Iris, I really do. She’s helped my mate through thick and thin before I got my head out of my ass and saw the truth staring me right in the face.

There have been some bumps in the road of her and my mate’s relationship, but things have thankfully smoothed out for the better.
