The bond twinges with the telltale signs of stress, vibrating hard enough to make my teeth chatter.
It spans out, morphing from a singular emotion to a few small sparks of anger and exasperation weaving in complicated patterns. Not at all normal for Ainsley who should be safely tucked in her dorm for the night.
Abandoning my patrol, I run for the campus, hoping like hell she’s in the middle of some scary movie marathon with Iris, and I’ll end up banging on their window and making the frightening atmosphere come to life.
Being out here all night has come up with nothing but dead ends. Only a few trails had been semi-promising, but they’d grown cold the moment I’d headed for the lake. Aside from the wildlife already living out this way, there were no signs of any shifters stalking my mate.
