Chapter 8. Busted

The past few nights have been restless, giving me nothing to do but patrol the woods surrounding NGU’s campus.

So far, none of Ainsley’s packmates have shown up for an unexpected visit, and aggravatingly, she’s continued to remain on campus despite my threats. Clearly, either her alpha is refusing to let her come home empty-handed, or she’s plain stupid and trying to call my bluff.

Either way, it angers me.

I’m not above having to take her out if it means preserving my own life. My nanny went through painstaking measures to ensure my survival the night of the attack, and I refuse to let that sacrifice be in vain.

She’s long since passed now, but her acts that night are something I’ll never forget, nor was I ever able to pay them back properly before she died.

I hope that by living, it’s at least something.

And for that I need to avoid whatever assassination attempt is coming my way.
