Chapter 16
I was relieved to learn that Nocturne and I did not have to leave the estate for the next few days. However, by the end of the first day, I wanted nothing more than to leave.
“So, this is the normal budget of the castle.” Andrew was going over the estates budget with Nocturne and I, and I realized just how expensive it was to be a noble.
“Does this include the pay for servants?” Nocturne asked as she looked over the documents in front of her.
“Yes. But we all received reparation funds from the king, so if you would like to lower the pay for the servants who chose to stay, I doubt we would complain much.” Andrew offered.
“This budget is small.” Nocturne said suddenly. “How much are you people paid?”
“This budget is over two hundred thousand dollars a month…” I commented.
“The budget of my father’s castle is over four million a month.” Nocturne said. Andrew nearly fainted at the thought of that much money.
