Chapter 66
The next day started off lazily. Nocturne and I both slept in. I woke before her and got to greet her when she finally came down for a late breakfast. Her eyes were puffy, signaling that she must have been crying the night before. I decided not to comment on it and instead asked her what plans she had for the day.
“Do you need to do anything today?” I asked.
“Not in particular.” Nocturne shrugged. We both jumped when we suddenly heard screaming coming from the lobby. I shot up from my chair, ready to face some kind of assailant. Nocturne and I saw the servants running down the hallway through the open double doors of the dining room. I prepared myself for a fight but calmed down when I saw shadow-like flames appearing in the hallway.
