Chapter 8

We finished our lunch, and we were escorted to the office of the estate. I followed behind Nocturne as she made small talk with Sofia and Andrew as they guided us through the castle. The estate was a large castle that had stood in the empire for longer than anyone could remember. It was not the largest estate, but may have easily been the oldest.

“This is your new office.” Andrew said as he opened a large set of double doors. We walked into a large, but empty room. Nocturne made her way over to the far side of the room where there was a bookshelf built into the wall. She ran her hand over the shelves as she walked along the bookshelf.

“Thank you for bringing me here. I need a few moments alone, can the three of you wait outside?” Nocturne asked.

“As you wish.” Andrew bowed. The three of us walked out of the office and closed the doors behind us.
