Ethan had watched Riley as he threw with one of the other catchers at practice, feeling irrationally jealous. He told himself it was because he was competing with that other teammate for the leading position. He was, but he didn’t need to react so strongly. He’d been so busy on the weekend with Hayley and Tommy that he’d hardly had time to plan how he would act around Riley after what had happened. He had no idea because, in high school, he’d dated the same girl for three years, and nothing like that had happened between them. He and Jenna had been romantic and restrained. He was still a virgin. He had no framework to interpret what had passed between him and the Ace pitcher.
