Chapter 83
They were in Abby's sitting room now, and since they were out, Abby never spoke a word to her except to send her nervous, concerned glances while feasting on the doughnut. And it was beginning to get on Maya's nerves.
"When did you begin to notice this change?" Maya asked, surprised at how calm her voice was when screaming internally.
Abby shrugged. "Three weeks ago, when you cleared my doughnut and yours, I wanted to remind you it was chocolate. "
Maya remembered, and she paused before continuing to pace.
"And you couldn't tell me, Abby? What if he had found out?"
"That would have happened if I told you," Abby explained between mouthfuls. "You freak out on everything, and he might read it on you."
Maya covered her shaky palms with her fingers, inhaling deeply.
