Chapter 68
The building felt colder at night and she just knew it would be colder outside. Her footsteps echoed faintly as she made her way toward the stairs, her pulse loud in her own ears as she started down.
It felt ridiculous; running down in the middle of the night just to confirm she was not crazy. But she needed to know so badly.
She turned the corner on the stairwell and froze in her steps. They were two men with half their faces covered with a nose mask. They stopped to when they saw her and looked at each other and one nodded before they looked back at her.
At that exact moment, her breath caught sharply in her throat as she wondered what ever made her walk out of her apartment so late into the night. The panic hit fast. Liana turned around immediately and ran.
Her footsteps were faster now, and louder, frantic as she rushed back up the stairs, her heart thudding against her chest as she reached her floor. Her hand fumbled with her keys as she reached her door
