Chapter 37. Little Discussion

"Here you go, some new clothes for your new station."

Madam Matilda dumped a pile of clothes into my arms, ignoring the sneer on my face. According to her, I could no longer be in my old room downstairs. I was in the King's service now so I had to take a room closer to his in case he needed me urgently. His room was the biggest and Matilda's was down the aisle.

"Why didn't you take a room close to his?" I had accused her but a sharp, disapproving look from her ensured that I kept my mouth shut throughout the rest of my orientation. My frown stayed in place however to remind her that I was not impressed with anything she was telling me.

First, I had not gotten Drew back yet and I would be lonely up there. My new room was much bigger than the previous one but at least, I had friends. I had been elevated in status but I was not feeling excited about it.
