Chapter 79. A Big Misunderstanding

VENUS

 I woke up in a dark room without windows. It was so hot and my body itched from the uncomfortable sweating. A foul-smelling odour was coming from somewhere close to me and it brought water to my eyes.

 What happened? I asked Bly, my head aching.

 We. . .snapped.

 Snapped how? 

 I touched my face tentatively and brought my fingers to my bruised nose. It was blood but why was I covered in blood? The last thing I could remember was speaking with Serena in the garden. 

 How did that result in my waking up in the dark? And what was that awful smell?

 We attacked our mate, Venus.

 We did what? 

 How possible was that? I would never lift a finger to harm the love of my life, my second chance at life. Was Bly out of her mind?

 I. . .am sorry. I. . .failed. . .you. . .again.

 Her mumbled words were slurry and I became afraid. What had actually happened? 

 I scrambled to my feet, feeling around the wall for somethi
