Venus POV

I heard him.

I wasn’t sure who it was at first, but Bly knew and had replied on my behalf.

It was Rhys reaching out to me, despite how much I had humiliated him in front of the entire Paradise Kingdom.

How could I ever look him in the eye? What did he think of me?

Maybe this was him giving me a second chance.

However, after Bly’s reply, he said nothing more, and I could feel the link weaken. Most of what I knew about the werewolf world, I had read in a book, and it could only mean one thing.

From what I remember, a mate link was established only after both mates accepted each other as soulmates. One-sided affection could not stand the test of time, and so the link would not hold.
