Chapter 38. A Visitor

Rose’s POV

I walked back to my room in anger. As soon as I got in, I locked myself inside and grabbed the boxes that I had stuffed behind my wardrobe. I opened them and started to pack again.

I was infuriated. The heck was all that about? What did he mean by I could go if I wanted to? I was here now, wasn’t I? I had fallen in love with his son and was trying to look past all the red flags and finally settle in.

I asked one question, one simple question, and that made his assistant talk down to me like that. It was as if I didn’t even deserve to know the conditions of my own job or what to expect. Why was he so determined to put me in the dark?

I had been receiving gifts for months before my return, and I knew nothing about the sender. And then he offered a job. I still didn’t know who it was from, but I accepted it anyway. Why was I always so oblivious about my own life?
