The evening had befallen the island; streaks of pink, purple, and vermillion swirled on the darkening sky. The string of LED lights draped across the garden-turned-reception now illuminated the area, bringing out the elegant vibe Alex poured her effort into. While slow music played, Patrick and Antoinette stood at the center for their money dance.
Yves already had two five hundred peso bills in his hand. Though he was sure it wouldn’t compare to the amount their big-time sponsors would give, it was only polite to pin something on them. He couldn’t miss this opportunity to give back for their hospitality, but Timothy was being uncooperative.
“You don’t need to give that much,” Timothy muttered beside him. “They’re rich. Two hundred would be enough.”
“Stop being stingy and pin the other on Patrick. It’s from my pocket anyway, not yours.”
Timothy grumbled some more but accepted the yellow paper bill Yves handed over to him.
