Chapter 43
He hesitated for a moment, contemplating why he was texting Grace instead of talking to her in person. Something was holding him back, a barrier he couldn’t quite define. But he knew he had to do it for his mom’s sake.
After a few minutes of struggling, he picked up his cell phone and sent Grace a message.
“Hi. Well, the thing is, Mom suddenly called me and asked us to join dinner this Saturday night, and we hadn’t met them yet, so I couldn’t turn her down, so I accepted it before asking you. I hope it’s okay for you as well,” he informed her that they were going to have dinner at his house on Saturday, following his mom’s request. It was a message that needed to be sent, yet he couldn’t shake the unease he felt about it.
