The clock ticked past midnight, the Khan villa enveloped in silence, save for the occasional rustling of leaves in the cold breeze. Ayleen quietly sneaked inside Ibrahim Khan’s room, her movements slow and deliberate. The dim light of the bedside lamp cast a faint golden glow over the room, highlighting the gentle rise and fall of Ibrahim Khan’s chest. His snores echoed softly, signaling his deep slumber.
Carefully tiptoeing, she made her way to the nightstand, her heart hammering in her chest. Her hands trembled slightly as she reached for his phone. One wrong move could wake him and put her entire plan in jeopardy. She paused, holding her breath, and cast a wary glance at him before finally picking up the device.
The screen lit up as she unlocked it, entering the password she had unknowingly seen the day he was reviewing Murat’s medical report. She hadn’t realized then that she would need this information, and now that she did, guilt clawed at her insides.
