The imposing demeanor quelled the anger within him as he stepped closer to the two people standing together. He observed them both for a moment. He noticed that Kattie’s hands were trembling slightly, unsure if it was from the cold or his presence.

Looking down at the arms wrapped around herself, Jasper realized that the girl next to him was quite frightened. He wasn’t sure if it was because of the cold or his sudden appearance. Jasper reached out and placed his other hand on top of hers. His palm was warm, and she felt as though an electric current ran through her, helping her regain her composure.

She glanced up at him, saw him nod in acknowledgment, and she calmed down, the trembling subsiding. Jasper observed Viktor’s odd actions and the intimate gestures they had shared, prompting Viktor to speak out.
