Amber POV

I stood by the staircase, staring down at the breakfast table. Elsie sat at the table, her hands wrapped around her coffee mug, unaware of me hovering above her.

I knew she was up to something but I could figure out what it was but the truth remained that Alex loved her.

I descended the stairs and hopped on the chair beside her. She stiffened and made to leave.

“No, sit” I sounded like a general giving orders but she complied and glided back into her seat, her lips pressed into a thin line.

I bit my tongue, hesitant to speak but I had no choice. “I need your help” my voice was barely above a whisper.

“I didn’t hear that”

I glared daggers at her. I had no idea whether she heard me but wanted me to repeat or she really did not hear me.
