Chapter 17. Weird Chemistry

Yasmin sat in the living room, watching shows on the TV, her mind distracted. She missed Carlos. He had had to go out of Penrith for business and just a day of his absence, and she felt miserable without him. She picked up the remote, flicking through the channels, searching for what would distract her from the turmoil in her heart.

Kristain entered the room, grinning at the sight of her scrolling through the channels. “You miss the boss?”

She jumped, hissing at him. “Stop that! You scared me.”

He snorted. “Scared? You sit in a room where anyone can enter.”

She scowled, hating that he was right. “What are you doing at home anyways?”

He turned the question back at her. “No, you. What are you doing here?”

She shook her head. “You are mischievous. You already said it.”

“You miss the boss?” he grinned at her.

“Yes, I guess.”

He shook with laughter. “You guess? You knew he traveled a lot for business before agreeing to be his mate.”
